Job Description

Core Technical Skills

  • Embedded C/C++ programming: Deep proficiency in low-level code for microcontrollers and SoCs.
  • RTOS experience: Familiarity with FreeRTOS, VxWorks, or QNX for real-time task scheduling.
  • Hardware-software integration: Ability to read schematics, debug with oscilloscopes, and interface with peripherals (SPI, I2C, UART).
  • Bootloader and firmware development: Designing secure, updatable embedded platforms.
  • Linux kernel and device drivers: Customizing and optimizing embedded Linux systems.
  • Cross-compilation and toolchains: Proficiency with GCC, Makefiles, and build systems like Yocto or Buildroot.

 Platform Engineering Skills

  • CI/CD for embedded systems: Automating firmware builds, testing, and deployment pipelines.
  • Version control and branching strategies: Git mastery, especially for multi-target embedded projects.
  • Containerization (Docker): Useful for simulating embedded environments and streamlining dev workflows.
  • Cloud integration: Connecting embedded devices to IoT platforms (AWS IoT, Azure IoT Hub).

 Testing & Validation

  • Unit and integration testing: Using frameworks like Unity or Ceedling.
  • Hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing: Simulating real-world conditions for embedded systems.
  • Debugging tools: JTAG, GDB, logic analyzers, and serial consoles.

 Soft Skills & Collaboration

  • System-level thinking: Understanding the full stack—from hardware to cloud.
  • Documentation and README culture: Clear specs, setup guides, and modular asset documentation.
  • Agile development: Working in sprints, managing backlogs, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Mentorship and code reviews: Supporting junior engineers and maintaining code quality.

 Typical Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Electronics, Computer Engineering, or Embedded Systems.
  • 3–7 years of experience in embedded software or platform engineering roles.
  • Certifications in Embedded Linux, IoT Security, or RTOS are a plus.
